From Bike Crashes to Tiny Cloaks
Remember summer holidays when we were out from dawn till dusk, collecting scrapes and wild stories from tree branches and broken bike chains? These days, I feel like kids are spending more time on screens than in their imaginations.
So, when a friend invited me to a private miniature studio—Weave of War—I figured, why not? I was expecting cool figurines. What I didn’t expect was to be transported straight back to that childhood magic.
The studio itself is tucked away, not open to the public, and full of these incredible tiny figures, lined up like an army, each one painted in painstaking detail. It was creative chaos in the best way: paints, brushes, and cloaks the size of bottle caps. And then Kevin, the wizard behind it all, asked: “Want to paint one?”
Yes. Yes, I did.
With his guidance, I picked a figure and got to work, tiny eyes, dramatic cloaks, and a few enthusiastic smudges along the way. Watching this little character come to life under my brush was honestly kind of enchanting.
But more than that, it sparked something. I left with more than a painted figure. I left with a reminder that creativity still has a place and that maybe, just maybe, I’ve been looking in the wrong places.
Thanks to Weave of War for the invitation, the inspiration, and a much-needed screen-free reset. I know one thing for sure: I want more of this for my kid. And maybe for me, too.
